The main title, in a way, encapsulates all the attributes of Jesus: authority, power, holiness, grace, kindness, joy, harmony, lightness, and forgiveness. It's perfect, a masterpiece inspired by the holy spirit.

Easter Sunday 1977, watching my dads friend crying at the last episode of Jesus of Nazareth changed my life. I’ve been on a journey ever since searching for Jesus. I hope I find him one day.

A superb soundtrack for such a mesmerising, beautifully made mini-series. Another magnificent creation brought into this world by a gay man, the director Franco Zeffirelli, whose family line traced back to a sibling of Leonardo Da Vinci, no less. Another gay genius whose religious paintings are also highly revered. These and many other guys really show the naivety of religious people who are conditioned to be phobic about gay men. It is very obvious that incredible artistry, sensitivity and skill came from them, rarely matched by old style straight guys, in fact. Except the stereotyping doesn't work either way. Composer Maurice Jarre was definitely straight, and created some wonderful works also.

Great movie and beautiful soundtrack. The acting was superb. Robert Powell nailed the role as Jesus of Nazareth. I used to watch this movie around the easter holiday, and it never loses its power over me every time I watch it.

The music to this series is a masterpiece,, deeply moving.

God forgive me but i find the main title and the crucifixion part disturbing very tragic it terrifies me the composer even added jazz effect that reminds you the whipping of jesus and as a kid i got traumatized by the movie never let your children watch it at young age, this is the most effective Jesus movie ive seen even stronger than Passion of the christ, but the composer couldve made a happier calming music instead of this

Watched this (Jesus of Nazareth) 30 straight years! Love the music!

One of the finest Bible films of its genre. I lost count how many times I watched it on network TV since 1977 PLUS I have still have VHS and DVD formats. I LOVE THE LORD with all my heart and this perfectly cast film still ministers to my soul. This Maurice Jarre film score is a key component.
